The object collection

The Jakobstad-Pietarsaari museum owns a significant amount of objects. The number of catalogued objects is over 30 000. These are primarily cultural-historical objects and objects that reflects the history of the Jakobstad region. The objects are partly donated to the museum and partly purchased. The museum continually accepts donations from individuals, companies and associations.

The museum has a cooperation agreement with the Finnish Heritage Agency in the TAKO-collaboration and the Jakobstad-Pietarsaari museum is responsible for the Finnish tobacco history. The tobacco museum are located in the Strengberg building at Skolgatan and canbe visited during the summer opening hours and by agreement.
